Could not believe it myself! I thought an early drive up to the Gap for morning birding would be rewarding today, but instead we were greeted by a dull weather. There was practically nothing to highlight at our first stop, we spent about 15 minutes and make our way up to the hill station. As we were driving up for less than a minute, suddenly we heard lots of bird calling. In between this stop and the upper gate, we had some interesting species for our bird list for today including woodpecker, laughingthrush, tailorbird, broadbill, drongo, and broadbill.

Upon reaching the hill station, we continue birding until midday before the guests checked into the hotel for a short rest. By then, the rain (light drizzle) has started. This goes on until the end of the day trip. We even covered the New Road in the afternoon hoping the weather would be better than the situation at hill station. *sigh* only slightest improvement. We still carry on birding. By 6pm, I sent the guests back to the hotel and bid farewell to them.

Despite the challenging and unfavorable weather today, we considered ourselves pretty lucky to get good looks at our targeted species! I guessed that's part and parcel of birding, just like a famous quote "life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you are going to get. :D

For me the highlight for this trip is a Dark Hawk Cuckoo.
