With lots of mist and rain during this time of the year in Fraser's Hill, we still proceed with a trip to the hill station. No particular species target in mind, but we would be happy to see the Mountain Fulvetta, Silver-eared Mesia, Rufous-browed Flycatcher, Little Pied Flycatcher, Large Niltava, Blue Nuthatch, Golden Babbler, Buff-breasted Babbler, and Chestnut-capped Laughingthrush. It was surprisingly a rewarding walk after the rain in the late afternoon when we heard the trogon calling. It took us little effort and time to find a pair of Red-headed Trogon not too far away from where we were standing.
I was not prepared at all for taking photographs at this time of the day and especially after the rain. But after spending time observing the both bird through the binocular and spotting scope. I quickly walked back to my car for the Nikon V1 and a telephoto lens. Unfortunately, the female bird flew away from our sight while the male went further back from its earlier perch. I realized the bird is still too near for the Nikon V1 after attaching to a 500mm lens. I had to took a few steps back and rotate my camera orientation. The following photograph is one of the few shots i managed to get with the help of the Nikon remote control. Yes, I would suggest using a remote control to minimize vibration. I could also use the digiscoping adapter for attaching a mechanical shutter cable which allow me to take multiple shots.
